28 Oct 2018

The international event had its first edition in Argentina and finished with a very successful summoning. The exhibition was the place chosen by the brands to carry out more than 50 launchings, 23 conferences and different tests in an outdoor track.

The 1st Salón Moto was carried out on October 25 - 28 in La Rural and was a resounding success, exceeding the summoning expectations. More than 60,000 people gathered during four days to know the latest models of the market motorbikes.

Organized by the Chamber of Motorcycle Manufacturers (CAFAM) and Messe Frankfurt Argentina, Salón Moto was a unique and international meeting with the participation of more than 80 exhibitors and 120 brands.

The first day of the exhibition had the presence of important figures of the public and private sector. Both the Minister of Transportation of Argentina, Bach. Guillermo Dietrich, and the Minister of Production and Work of Argentina, Bach. Dante Sica, highlighted the work and effort of the motorcycle sector to carry out this international event and celebrated agreements with CAFAM to advance in several areas related to security, environment and national manufacturing.

"Salón Moto had a level that is comparable to the most important exhibitions worldwide and we believe that it has been a great step to go on working among all the motorcycle sector participants and the authorities, to consolidate a motorcycle national industry and make the sector to fulfill all its potential"

Besides, Salón Moto received the visit of at least eight executives from headquarters and terminals, and became a meeting point of the industry to do new business and alliances. Not only motorcycle terminals were present, but also the companies related to clothing, helmets and accessories.

The organization’s assessment

The president of CAFAM, Eng. Lino Stefanuto, assessed the experience of this first edition as follows: “We are very pleased with the result of this first Salón Moto, both for the audience's answer and for the commitment of all the players of our sector, including the Ministers to advance in a legal framework that allows an intelligent industrialization and the elimination of taxes, a distortion that affects both industrial projects and collection.” And afterwards he added: “Salón Moto had a level that is comparable to the most important exhibitions worldwide and we believe that it has been a great step to go on working among all the motorcycle sector participants and the authorities, to consolidate a motorcycle national industry and make the sector to fulfill all its potential.”

In the booths, the brands offered different activities for adults and kids. There were simulators and virtual reality games, motorcycle and equipment draws, motorcycle artistic interventions, trivia quizzes, barber’s and tattoo services.

There was also an important open auditorium, exclusively devoted to technical conferences and presentations. There, important figures such as Jorge Martín, René Zanatta, Guillermo "Willy" Pérez, Benedicto "Chiche" Caldarella, Javier Pizzolito, Mauricio "Paco" Gómez, Claudio Pesce, Gustavo Morea, Martín Urruty, among others, gave lectures on motocross practice and techniques, advices for safe driving, motorcycle history and Dakar experiences. The audience accompanied each of these lectures.

Road Safety was another of the main subjects of the event, through the participation of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the Province of Buenos Aires and the National Road Safety Agency, which offered several trainings on the importance of the helmet use and safe driving awareness.

Furthermore, the event had an area of outdoor demos, in which the motorcycle brands presented their new models in motion in a specially designed track, where fans could see several tests.

The organizers have already confirmed the date for the second edition, which will take place on October 14-18, 2020 again in La Rural Trade Center.
